Mecademic announces the release of firmware 8.3.10 for its Meca500 R3 robots. This update adds support for the EtherNet/IP, and the Meca500 is now certified by ODVA for use with this network protocol.
Why EtherNet/IP?
EtherNet/IP is an industrial network protocol used by many PLC and automation component vendors worldwide. It is currently the most widespread industrial protocol in the United States and is used in a wide variety of industries.
Although not required for the Meca500, this release is in response to demand from our customers and integrators who work with Allen-Bradley products and other PLCs. Along with EtherCAT, this is a great choice for industrial manufacturers.
The firmware is available for download free of charge here. For firmware upgrade instructions, please refer to the User Manual or to the following article.
We are currently working on making this firmware available for the Meca 500 R2.
